West Baden Hotel Trip
While researching “Landscape of Valor, The Sinclair Legacy,” we went on a journey through Indiana. I had come across the West Baden Hotel, which had been acquired and managed by my husband’s second great-grandfather, Lee Wiley Sinclair. As we drove into town, the road near the hotel bore the name “Sinclair.” Seeing the family name as a street name gave me goosebumps. The view of the hotel grounds was breathtaking. It was a sight to behold—flowers, stately buildings, and a touch of the past. I had been wanting to visit this incredible place before I wrote about it in my book. Here we were, driving through the grounds, eagerly anticipating a late afternoon and an overnight stay at the hotel. At one point, it was regarded as “the 8th Wonder of the World, boasting a grand dome room and an expansive atrium.” During our initial hours at the hotel, we were transported back in time, treated to breathtaking views, and provided with exceptional service.
