Visiting with Ancestors

  William Warren Dunston was born on 30 May 1849 in Wisconsin and died on 27 November 1914 in Logan County, Colorado. He married Pauline Fielding on 9 October 1870 in Grant County, Wisconsin. William was the son of my lasted family leader profile (last week).  He left home too young to enlist in the Civil War but he joined as a drummer boy. He earned the respect of his military leader and was allowed to carry a gun and fight. He was discharge from the Company H, Wisconsin 50th Infantry at the age of 17.  He moved his family to Plattsmouth, Nebraska and later settled and raised a family with Pauline in Iowa. Before his death, he farmed in Merino, Logan County, Colorado.  When he died he was brought back to Iowa. His name appears on the Cass County, Civil War Monument.  His wife, went to live with their daughters in Sparks, Nevada and Sterling, Colorado.  I am researching another line of my family.  I had been cruising right along for about a month and this Friday, it all came to a sudden halt.  I had done some preliminary research a few years ago and it all looked correct.  I have been using old books for my primary sources and town records. Suddenly they didn't match. My first reaction was "What did I do?".  Then my next reaction was "I just spent a month on this research and I might need to start over".  I was moments away from hitting delete to my manuscript. I took a deep breath, looked at the clock and decided it would worth it to keep reading and researching. I used google to look for other resources. I decided to go back to the books I had been using. I looked on Ancestry and FamilySearch again.  The pieces started to come together. I had to read some pages in the books multiple times. My original research was correct.
